  2. Some believe that the reason why it’s not good to have pork in the car going over the Pali is because Kamapua’a- the Boar God- lives in that valley. Not all believe this, but this is what I was told when I was growing up.

    Again, I am a skeptic, but I respect the beliefs of my family, my ancestors, and other Hawaiians. I haven’t experienced anything to make me believe in ghosts 100%, but I’m not going to disrespect the aina and its people. Nor do I claim that ghosts don’t exist.
